2-pyrrolidone is colorless transparent liquid when temperature is higher than its melting point 23-25° C; But it is in crystal form once the temperature comes below than 23-25° C. 2-pyrrolidone is soluble with water, alcohol, ether, chloroform, benzene, ethyl acetate, carbon disulfide and most organic solvents in any ratio but it is insoluble in petroleum ether.
